GRTNET Since 1999
LEGAL MANDATE

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2000
Entity: GRTNET INTERNATIONAL (Hong Kong SAR)

1. Our Core Mandate

GRTNET INTERNATIONAL was founded on a singular principle: absolute operational confidentiality. We do not mine your data, we do not scan your emails for advertising, and we do not log your metadata for third-party monetization.

2. The Hong Kong Advantage vs. US Providers

Most major email providers (such as Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, and Yahoo) are based in the United States. This subjects them to the US CLOUD Act, FISA Section 702, and routine warrantless surveillance programs (like PRISM), meaning they can be legally compelled to hand over your data to foreign intelligence agencies without your knowledge or consent.

By contrast, GRTNET INTERNATIONAL is exclusively governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), specifically the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO) (Cap. 486).

  • No Mandatory Data Retention: Unlike the EU and parts of the US, Hong Kong law does not mandate the retention of email communications or metadata for arbitrary lengths of time. Once you delete an email from our servers, it is gone.
  • Immunity to Foreign Subpoenas: A US National Security Letter (NSL) or a European gag order holds no legal weight within our jurisdiction. We will only respond to lawful, local orders issued by a High Court of Hong Kong, and only if they pertain to strict criminal proceedings.

3. Data Collection & Usage

We collect only the bare minimum data required to maintain the technical operation of the Grid Relay Transport network. This includes necessary routing metrics, active account states, and billing information (if applicable). All operational logs are routinely purged.

4. End-to-End Encryption

We provide the infrastructure for secure, encrypted transport. Our administrators cannot read your encrypted mail. We do not hold the decryption keys to PGP/GPG payloads transmitted over our network.

5. Contact
